Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server, never stored by PDFZova, and never shared with anyone. Closing the tab discards them. The only exception is if a future tool is explicitly labelled as server-processed — this tool is not one of those.
Frequently asked questions
Why is text no longer selectable?
Grayscale is done by re-rendering each page as a picture, which removes the text layer. That is also why scanned documents and printed output look right.
Which option is best for printing?
Black & white for text documents (uses the least toner). Standard grayscale for documents with photos or diagrams.
About Grayscale PDF
Colour printing costs more than black-and-white, and not every document needs colour. Grayscale PDF rebuilds each page in grayscale at about 144 DPI for cheaper printing. The honest trade-off: output pages are images, so text in the result is no longer selectable, and the file may grow rather than shrink.
